WordPress Object Caching with Redis and Memcached

What is Object Caching?

Object caching stores complex database query outputs directly in server RAM. Instead of re-executing SQL queries on each visitor request, results are retrieved from RAM in microseconds.

Redis vs Memcached

  • Redis: Advanced data structures, persistent memory options, optimal for high-traffic WordPress & WooCommerce stores.
  • Memcached: Simpler, lightweight in-memory key-value cache.

Enabling Redis in WordPress

  1. Enable the redis extension in cPanel Select PHP Version.
  2. Install the Redis Object Cache plugin in WordPress.
  3. Click Enable Object Cache to connect to localhost:6379.
